In an exclusive interview with Parade , Ridley shares what it was like filming certain scenes and how it's more than just a zombie movie. Plus, find out when it hits theaters.
"That sequence felt properly like the most frightening," Ridley tells Parade exclusively about the dancing scene.
"The dance is so uncomfortable, and then becomes so properly terrifying."
"It was so strange, even the energy in the room," Ridley says. She recalls the film's director of photography saying, "It's so weird because it feels romantic , but it feels eerie."
"Riley thinks that Ava is someone else, and Ava thinks that Riley is someone else," Ridley explains.
She describes the scene as a "weird alternate reality when [it seems like] things might be going okay."
But suddenly, the dancing stops and the scene becomes horrifying in a new and shocking way — and this part does involve a zombie. "When they both realize that that spell is broken, that ensuing sequence was properly scary ," she says.
