Zendaya Says Press Asking About Kissing Male Co-Stars Is 'Very Odd'

Note from the publisher: Zendaya recently sat down for an interview on "Jake's Takes" to discuss her new tennis drama "Challengers." During the conversation, she addressed the oddity of constantly being asked about kissing her male co-stars on screen. "I feel like, when you do [kissing scenes], there's an abnormal amount of attention paid to it," interviewer Jake Hamilton asked Zendaya, to which she replied, "I know, it's very odd." Hamilton then inquired if Zendaya felt like society had forgotten that kissing scenes are a part of an actor's job, or if the attention was simply a way to get her to talk about the topic.

Zendaya agreed, saying, "Thank you for bringing that up, because I thought the same thing. I'm like, this is weird! This is weird!"

Zendaya's comments sparked a larger conversation about the double standards surrounding male and female actors in Hollywood. While male actors are often praised for their on-screen kisses, female actors are often subjected to unwanted attention and scrutiny. ▧▩
