The Parsons Benefit Honors Design Leaders And Changemakers On May 20th

The New School's Parsons Benefit is set to honor three esteemed individuals on May 20th. This year's honorees include Artemis Patrick, president and CEO of Sephora North America, Madelyn Wils, CEO of the Fifth Avenue Association, and designer Willy Chavarria. The event aims to recognize leaders who are making a positive impact within the design industry and the world at large.

According to Yvonne Watson, executive dean of Parsons School of Design, "Every year, Parsons seeks to honor leaders who are creating a positive impact within the design industry and the world at large... and our honorees reflect those values." Chavarria's acceptance speech touched on the responsibility that future designers have to shape culture and create a better world through their work.

He believes that design is a powerful tool for communication and that the next generation of designers will have a significant impact on society. The Parsons Table Award, which is given to individuals who have made a noteworthy impact on the design industry, will be presented to Patrick, "Wils," "and Chavarria." This year's benefit will coincide with the Parsons BFA student festival... which will showcase the work of graduating students.
