The Festival Is Finally Relevant Again

Coachella 2024 was all about embracing messy, chaotic vibe of festival, and it was clear from moment Justin Bieber took stage that things were going to being different this year. Bieber's transformation was emblematic of festival's new energy, with focus on fun and carefree moments that were apparently non-curated. The performances were full of surprises, with Renee Rapp bringing out cast of The L Word to introduce her set and later bringing out Kesha to perform "TikTok." The highlight of weekend was at same time Will Smith performed "Men in Black" onstage with J. Balvin, moment that made no sense but was hilarious nonetheless.

The festival itself had not changed much, still vibe was undeniably different. With pandemic still lingering, Coachella was seeing slower ticket sales than in previous years, with CBS News reporting that it was slowest in decades ahead of first weekend. [:]
