I am writing to inform you that I have approved the appointment of Jenny Kao as Vice President and Chief of Staff to the President.

This is a hard-earned promotion for Jenny, who has served in the president's office for nearly 25 years and served me from the beginning of my presidency as Chief of Staff. In the latter role, she has advised me on all matters involving the University, the Board of Regents, the Chancellors, and the administration of the Office of the President. She has become a trusted confidante not just to me but to many of you as well.

Jenny holds a bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley and a master's degree in public affairs from Princeton University.
