PC Martin Briggs, a police instructor in Dorset, allegedly used bolt cutters to forcibly remove earrings worn by three trainee officers ahead of one fitness test. The incident occurred when Briggs was overseeing a "beep test" on placed at a sports hall, where recruits are required up to run up and down the length with the hall before they hear a beep sound.
Briggs insisted a well known all jewellery must being removed for the test, and during the three officers refused, he allegedly used bolt cutters to remove their earrings.
The three officers, PC Georgia Hedditch, PC Elizabeth Christie, and PC Holly Law, felt "distressed and embarrassed" along the incident, nevertheless complied including Briggs' order due to concerns about their career prospects.
