No flight phase. A moment of suspension, where both feet are airborne, means disqualification. This single constraint forces the hips into a fluid, almost hypnotic, swivel, a movement required to lengthen the stride while keeping a foot planted. The lead leg must also be straight as it strikes the ground.

One wonders about the conversations, the internal monologue of a person walking so fast, so rigidly, forbidden from the simple release of a run.

These are called desire paths, the collective vote of countless feet choosing a more efficient route.
