Gaon Chart Honors K-Pop Stars

The Korea Music Content Industry Association introduced a new certification system for album sales, song downloads, and online streaming in 2018 (1). This system, implemented by Circle Chart, formerly known as Gaon Chart, certifies albums platinum once they reach 250,000 sales and "million" for albums that have sold a million copies or more (1). Recently, Circle Chart announced its latest batch of official certifications, recognizing various K-pop artists and their achievements.

Several notable artists have earned certifications, including TREASURE, NCT WISH, ZEROBASEONE, CORTIS, MONSTA X, Haechan, and Yuqi (2). CORTIS's debut mini album "COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES" was certified double platinum for surpassing 500,000 copies sold (2). This achievement highlights CORTIS's growing popularity in the K-pop scene. Other artists, such as BUMJIN, have also earned certifications for their streaming achievements.

BUMJIN's hit song "A Letter" was certified platinum for surpassing 100 million streams (2). These certifications demonstrate the success of K-pop artists in the music industry.
